On Nov 11, Niagara College will pause to pay solemn tribute to the courage and sacrifice of Canada’s veterans and active service members. College flags at both Niagara campuses will be lowered to half-staff in deep respect for all who have served and continue to serve our nation during times of conflict and peace.

On campus service

The College community is encouraged to participate in a brief yet meaningful service of remembrance which will be broadcast over the public address system at 11 a.m. (at both the Welland Campus and the Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake).

The service will begin with the poignant strains of “The Last Post,” followed by a reading of Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae’s timeless poem, “In Flanders Fields,” and culminate with one minute of silence. All students, faculty, and staff and administrators are encouraged to join in this important moment of reflection.

Fonthill livestream powered by NC Broadcasting

The College is proud to highlight the collaboration between faculty and students of Broadcasting – Radio, Television and Film program and the Talbot Trail Legion Branch 613 in Fonthill. Thanks to this partnership, NC students will apply their skills to livestream the local Remembrance Day service, allowing the community to bear witness to this important event from afar. The service, hosted by Talbot Trail Legion Branch 613 at 141 Hwy 20 E., Fonthill, will be livestreamed starting at 10:30 a.m. on Nov.11. View it here: vimeo.com/event/5468815.
