Get ready to raise your stein and roll out the barrel; tickets are now on sale for the Wine Visitor + Education Centre’s first-ever Oktoberfest celebration.

A nod to the world-renowned annual beer festival in Munich, Germany, this event will be held on Saturday, October 4 from 1-4 p.m. under the tent at the Wine Visitor + Education Centre.

This ticketed event is open to the public and will feature a perfect student-crafted brew on tap, along with classic German-style food and games.

Guests can savour the flavours of Oktoberfest with a Märzen from the Teaching Brewery. The traditional German amber lager, which is traditionally served in Munich’s Oktoberfest celebrations, was brewed by NC Brewmaster Professor Jon Downing and students from the Brewmaster and Brewery Operations Management program.

In addition to the official Oktoberfest beer, the event promises German-inspired fare, lively music, and classic Oktoberfest games like stein-holding, barrel rolling contests and more.

“Raise a stein with the community,” said Brad Tandy, Event and Marketing Coordinator for the College’s Learning Enterprises. “Our first-ever Oktoberfest is all about celebrating fall with fresh, college-crafted beer, classic German-style bites, and lively Oktoberfest fun–right here at Niagara College.”

Tickets are $35 plus tax ($30 for Beverage Club members), while supplies last. Each ticket includes one pint of Oktoberfest beer and a Bratwurst plate served with sauerkraut and potato salad. Additional beverages from the Teaching Brewery, Teaching Winery, and Teaching Distillery will be available for purchase.

The event is open to all ages and will be held rain or shine.
