The three Niagara dailies, (St. Catharines Standard, Niagara Falls Review and Welland Tribune) reported on NC’s efforts to navigate sector-wide financial challenges while avoiding the most significant reductions faced by other Ontario colleges.
The article highlights the College’s focus on aligning programs with areas of high demand and introducing new offerings such as Project Management and Data Analytics.
Michael Wales, Communications Director at NC, is quoted in the article: “As [President Kennedy] has mentioned previously, we’re finding ways to expand capacity in programs where there is more demand and accelerating the development of new programs that meet employer demand.”
Darcie Hillier, vice-president of OPSEU Local 242, representing full-time faculty, added that “Niagara College is in a more stable position than many of the colleges right now, but like all colleges in Ontario our situation is critical.”
