Niagara College is getting ready to welcome college athletes from across the province for its annual Ontario College Recreation (OCR) Extramural Cricket Tournament, set to take place Wednesday, July 9 at the Niagara Cricket Club Grounds (2711 Thorold Townline Rd).
The outdoor tournament is expected to draw more than 100 participants, making it one of the largest extramural cricket events of the 2025 season. Once again, NC will welcome teams from Humber, Mohawk, Sheridan, Conestoga, and Seneca Colleges to the pitch for a full day of cricket action.
Led by returning coach Ronan Wijegunaratne, NC’s cricket team heads into the season with a mix of new and returning players. Last season, the team finished second in two tournaments, won a series against Mohawk, and took home the Niagara Cup title after defeating Brock University and SAIT College.
Spectators are welcome to attend free of charge. As the event takes place outdoors, attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets, water, snacks, sunscreen and hats, as there is limited shade and no food or drink vendors on site.
NC is exploring the possibility of livestreaming the matches. More details will be shared closer to the date.
