Niagara College is preparing to celebrate more than 5,500 graduating students from its Class of 2025 with six days of Spring Convocation at the Welland Campus – and we’re calling on all NC employees to lend a hand.
Convocation is celebrated to mark the most significant milestone in a student’s academic and personal journey. It is a moment that recognizes the hard work, dedication, and perseverance students have invested in completing their studies. More than just a ceremony, it symbolizes a major life transition–from being a student to becoming a graduate–and often marks the beginning of a new chapter in many aspects of life. It is also a time of pride and joy for families and supporters, who have supported the graduate throughout their journey.
Calling on employees to support Convocation! How can you help?
Spring Convocation will be held from Monday, June 9 to Saturday, June 14 at the Simplii Financial Athletic Centre (Welland Campus), with morning and afternoon ceremonies each day (at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.).
To help students feel truly celebrated, we encourage all employees (where operationally feasible) to set aside some time during their workday to assist with various operational requirements for any of the 12 ceremonies. Employees are required to first connect with their managers to schedule their participation as part of their regular workday, as Enrolment Services can always benefit from having more colleagues engaged in supporting this series of events.
This visible show of support makes such a positive impact. Whether you are involved as an usher, someone helping people to find their way around campus, or helping with gown return, your friendly, familiar face, and a “congratulations” helps students feel a true sense of our pride in them. We encourage you to wear your NC gear, name tag or staff ID while on campus that week to give all students and their families the warmest possible experience and demonstrate the pride we have in our #ncLIFE.
Uncertain which ceremony you would like to volunteer? You can view the ceremony schedule on NC’s Convocation website to select one (or more) ceremonies which represent the students you serve, a program of which you are an NC graduate, or simply a program in which you have always been interested.
