Thorold Today, Pelham Today, and the NOTL Local covered Niagara College’s Game Development Launch (GDLaunch), held April 9 at the Welland Campus Library.
The event saw graduating students from NC’s game development programs, including those in partnership with Brock University, showcase their capstone projects to an audience of students, faculty, alumni and industry professionals. Attendees had the chance to test out the students’ innovative creations.
Game Development professor Conor MacNeill, who has been with the program since its inception 14 years ago, described the event as the most exciting day of the year for students and faculty alike.
“For us, this is like Christmas,” said MacNeill. “It’s our celebration of all the games and all the hard work that the students have put in this year. And it’s a celebration of the program and all the great people in it.”
Following GDLaunch, MacNeill and fellow faculty members accompanied 64 graduating students to the annual Level Up Showcase in Toronto, where projects from the Niagara College and NC/Brock programs earned several accolades. All award wins can be viewed here.
