The three Niagara dailies (Welland Tribune, Niagara Falls Review and St. Catharines Standard) reported on the rising profile of personal support workers (PSWs) in Ontario, noting that hundreds of PSWs are now among the province’s top income earners, highlighting of the vincreasingly valued role they play in health care.

NC spokesperson and Corporate Communications Consultant, Julie Greco, was quoted in the article, noting that the College’s PSW program, which offers approximately 90 seats per semester, continues to see high demand.

“It’s no secret that there’s an urgent need for more PSWs, who play such a crucial role on health-care teams,” she said. “Niagara College is well suited to address the shortages in front-line health care and we’re seeing strong demand for our health-care programs — including PSW. We’re also working with partners like Niagara Health to grow enrolments while also taking steps to expand capacity and access in these programs.”
