As Niagara College prepares for the start of Spring term on May 5, NC’s Academic Advising and Career Services team wants to remind employees about the services available to support students. Whether they are new to NC, struggling with their courses, planning their future career or wanting to learn more about course requirements, students can benefit from the services offered by the department at every stage of their academic journey.
For incoming students, taking advantage of the Academic Success Series offered in partnership between Academic Advising and NC’s Libraries and Learning Commons is a great way to prepare for their college journey.
“The Academic Success Series is a fantastic resource for students who are new to Niagara College,” said Christina Farow, Director, Academic Advising and Career Services – Welland Campus. “The sessions include tips for success, strategies to succeed in class, and be successful on co-op work experiences, resources at NC and much more.”
This virtual programming is broken down into three videos:
- Welcome
- The Academic Experience – support at every stage of your journey
- Academic support and beyond
Students can view these videos on their own time and at their own pace.
Faculty and staff members are encouraged to share this resource with students.
“It’s our goal to get the word out to all of our students that there are supports available to them at all points in their NCLife,” said Gordana Vitez, Director, Libraries and Learning Commons – Daniel J. Patterson Campus.
Employees can also share the contact information of the Academic Advising team with NC students and direct them to the appropriate advisor based on their program or campus. Please note, International students are served by International Student Advisors (ISA) and are located in W015 at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake and in S100 at the Welland Campus.
