On November 7, Emily Vukovic from CHCH previewed Niagara College’s upcoming Spring Open House, taking place on March 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at both campuses.
Vukovic’s tour began at the Teaching Distillery, where Head Distiller David Dickson discussed the rye- and barley-based spirit production process that students work on in the lab. He also highlighted the wide range of career opportunities available to graduates across the country.
She then headed outdoors with Jocelyn Baker, Program Coordinator and Professor in the Environmental Technician program, who showcased the College’s 18 acres of wetlands that also serve as an outdoor living classroom, providing students with hands-on experience and practical skills in environmental sciences.
Inside the lab, Dr. Amy Proulx, Program Coordinator for Culinary Innovation, shared insights into how students explore the science behind beverages and alcoholic beverages, and how these skills apply to the broader food processing industry.
The final stop was in the business classroom, where third-year Marketing Advanced Diploma student Dario Spiteri highlighted the program’s valuable co-op component. He shared how co-op placements provide real-world job opportunities and reflected on his favourite experiences, including case competitions and international field studies.
The segment also announced that attendees who register and visit Open House will be automatically entered to win a $5,000 tuition credit.
