A message from Leah Hogan, Director, Indigenous Education
I’m pleased to share that Cathy Smith has joined our team as our Indigenous Career Consultant. In this role, Cathy will support NC’s Indigenous students by developing strategies, resources and materials that reflect Indigenous knowledge systems and the unique employment challenges faced by Indigenous Peoples. She will work closely with our Indigenous students to identify job opportunities and to equip them with the skills to successfully navigate the hiring process.
Cathy was born and raised on Six Nations of the Grand River Territory and is Turtle Clan, Oneida Nation. She has more than 28 years of experience working as an educator and started the first GED program on the Six Nations of the Grand River Territory as she saw the need to assist adults in meeting their personal educational goals. This program is still taking place at the OGWEHOWEH Skills & Trades Training Centre where she worked as an Adult Educator for 10 years.
Please join me in welcoming Cathy to the NC family.
