The three Niagara dailies (Niagara Falls Review, St. Catharines Standard, and Welland Tribune), the Hamilton Spectator and Niagara this Week released an article on the FIRST Robotics competition held at Niagara College March 8 to 9.
About 1,000 high school students and their supporters packed the gymnasium for the FIRST Robotics competition featuring robots that were designed, built and operated by 27 teams of high school students from across Ontario and the United States. The competition was organized by FIRST Robotics Canada, a registered charity established in 2001 to inspire Canadian high school and elementary school students to pursue studies and careers in science, technology and engineering.
Marc Nantel, Vice President Research, Innovation & Strategic Enterprises at Niagara College, noted the two-day event gave the College a chance to showcase its programs and services to the high school students: “Any time they got on a campus, they get a feel for what it’s like. We have tours they can take and this may be the first time they are on a post-secondary institute campus.”
