Food in Canada is shining a spotlight on food safety with the help of NC Professor Amy Proulx – and her students will have an opportunity to learn from the experience.
Proulx, who is Program Coordinator for the College’s Culinary Innovation and Food Technology program, will be a featured speaker in an upcoming Food in Canada webinar to be held on March 19 at 1 p.m., alongside Laurent Dallaire, CEO and Co-founder of Innodal, which produces natural antimicrobials for the food industry, and Nithy Caleb, Food in Canada editor.
“Amy is a well-known food safety expert. Plus, she writes our Focus on Food Safety column. So, we can’t have a food safety-related webinar without her,” said Caleb.
The webinar, Food Safety Future: Learning from Recalls, will take a deep dive into recent food recalls in Canada, examining the root causes, regulatory and compliance issues, and the overall impact on the industry. Geared to academicians, food safety specialists and consultants and policy-makers, it will offer valuable insights and preventive measures to enhance safety practices.
“It’s really exceptional for us at Niagara College to contribute to the national conversation about food manufacturing food safety,” said Proulx.
She noted that her involvement with Food in Canada is beneficial for her students.
“Because of our strong partnership with Food in Canada Magazine, our students are reading about and interacting with many of Canada’s food manufacturing leaders, using articles as case studies,” said Proulx. “The students will be part of the audience for the upcoming webinar, which is very timely, as they are studying food recall and traceability systems.”
Registration is required to attend the webinar, which will be held via Zoom. For more information or to register: us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_5cT0zZuiTleBw4CvVP1P1g#/registration.
