More than 100 students from the College’s School of Business gained real-world experience working on a marketing campaign and presenting it to representatives from one of Niagara’s leading wine country properties: Riverbend Inn and the Andrew Peller Group.
The experiential learning project was part of an Integrated Marketing course taught by Professor Terri Champion, comprised of Sales and Marketing, and Business Administration Marketing students.
Students worked in groups to create a campaign which aimed at driving bookings between peak- and off-season. Four groups were selected as finalists and had an opportunity to present their plans to representatives from Riverbend Inn.
The finalists were recognized with a certificate of achievement and the winning group, chosen by Riverbend, received a surprise complimentary night stay at the Inn. The winning team included second-year students from the Business Administration Marketing program: David Dioszegi, Israel Godoy, Amelie Piette and Nazek Kigab.
Champion expressed gratitude to the Riverbend Inn and Andrew Peller Group for participating.
She had been looking for opportunities for the course and approached NC alumna Madison Vine (Event Management, 2015), who is a member of the College’s Program Advisory Committee for Marketing programs. Vine is Channel Marketing Manager for Andrew Peller Limited and the company agreed to be the subject of the project.
“All our student groups benefited greatly from the experience, applying their learning to a real-world situation, gaining insight from business professionals and gaining confidence in their abilities to present their ideas in a business environment,” said Professor Terri Champion. “This was an unforgettable experience, not only for the presenting students but also for their peers who packed the room to listen to the presentations and hear feedback from our project partner.”
Vine, who has been a member of the PAC since September, enjoyed the experience of being involved with a project to provide students with a real-world problem and allow them to get creative with their solutions.
“The work that was showcased by the students was exceptional and my team and I left feeling excited about all of the campaigns presented,” said Vine. “The experience I gained as a student at NC was something I still value today so it was a pleasure to be able to give something back to today’s students.”

The winning team of students were surprised with a complimentary stay at the Inn.
