Fall harvest is here in Niagara, and NC students had a special opportunity to enjoying nature’s bounty.
Following a successful produce pop-up at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake in September, students at the at the Welland Campus had the chance to pick up fresh, seasonal produce at no cost, thanks to a partnership with United Way.
About 80 students had the chance to choose from over 73 pounds of produce, courtesy of UW, in partnership with NC Sustainability, and in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of food security and zero hunger.
The vegetables were grown in the United Way garden plots at the DJP-NOTL campus and harvested by Greenhouse Technician program student and Garden Operation Lead Lucas Fysh.
