The Hamilton Spectator and InsideHalton.com reported on NC’s Ecosystem Restoration students who partnered with the City of Burlington to support natural spaces The initiative provided Ecosystem Restoration graduate students with the opportunity to work on projects in Paletta Lakefront Park and Hidden Valley Park, with plans to continue in other locations.
Niagara College Ecology Professor Andrea Sinclair is quoted in the article:
“The students gave practical and achievable recommendations to improve the trails. They organized a work day to remove non-city-made paths along the creek that were causing the creek bank to collapse. They used existing logs and woody debris from the woodlot to block the trail, and planted trees and shrubs in the bank and along the trail to allow nature to reclaim it.”
