Niagara College is capping off the first week of fall classes with the introduction of a special new team member.
“Noble of Niagara” – a friendly blue and grey dragon donning a suit of armour – flew into the hearts of the NC family on September 6 as the College’s new official Knights mascot.
Dragons are mythical creatures, and, in certain cultures, they are symbols of strength, courage, wisdom, knowledge, protection, triumph and good luck. Dragons remind us that when we use our power for good, we can overcome obstacles, achieve success and help others.

NC’s new mascot Noble of Niagara
Noble represents these qualities, and, as one of the College’s most public-facing brand ambassadors, NC looks forward to its new mascot becoming a source of encouragement and pride on campus and in the community.
“We are thrilled to introduce our new mascot to students, employees, alumni and community partners,” said NC President Sean Kennedy. “Noble of Niagara is a welcome addition to our Knights family and we look forward to the fun that we will have together in the years ahead.”
Legend has it that Noble has been in training their whole life under the guidance of Knightro, NC’s longtime mascot who retired earlier this summer.
Noble was raised by Knightro right from an egg and grew up in their dragon’s lair in a secret location on campus.
Under Knightro’s care, NC’s future mascot learned about what it means to be a “Niagara College Knight” – to strive for excellence while being respectful, welcoming and compassionate.
After passing their training with flying colours, Knightro deemed Noble ready for duty.
“Noble of Niagara will bring a new level of excitement at our Knights games, which will enhance the student and student-athlete experience at NC,” said Michele O’Keefe, NC’s Director, Athletics and Student Engagement. “We are excited for the NC and Niagara communities to meet Noble as they begin their Knights journey.”
This fall, Noble will spend time at the Welland Campus and Daniel J. Patterson Campus to meet students and employees and will be a mainstay at Knights varsity home games, where they will help encourage and cheer on NC’s student-athletes. Following in the footsteps of Knightro, Noble will also participate in various public events throughout the year to continue representing NC in the community.
Cheer on the Knights and meet Noble of Niagara
Noble of Niagara will make their inaugural public appearance on Sept. 6 to help kick off the Knights’ varsity season at the soccer home opener against the Humber Hawks. The games take place at Youngs Sportsplex (570 River Rd., Welland) at 6 p.m. (women’s game) and 8 p.m. (men’s game). Noble will arrive at 5:50 p.m. in advance of the first game.
Students, employees, alumni and community members are welcome to attend the festivities to meet Noble and cheer on the Knights. Admission is free and there will be prize giveaways, music and free food for the first 150 students (student ID required). Food for purchase will be available for all other attendees. The event is rain or shine.
