It’s full speed ahead for Niagara College’s first-ever School of Trades Car Show, but a rainy forecast for June 29 has convinced the event’s organizers to move the show to the following day (June 30).
Taking place in the ‘D’ parking lots at the Welland Campus from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Car Show will feature a display of modern cars and classic cars, plus bouncy castles and face painting, vendors, and food catered by the Niagara College Student Administrative Council (NCSAC).
Proceeds from the event and a 50-50 raffle held at the show will be donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities South Central Ontario (RMHCSCO), which recently opened a Ronald McDonald Family Room at the Marotta Family Hospital in St. Catharines to support families with children undergoing hospital care.
The family-friendly event has attracted sponsorships from Performance Auto Group, Welland Chev-Olds, Mike Knapp Ford, NCSAC and CAA Niagara. Cars dating back decades will be on display, including 30 from the local Corvette club, which has registered two cars from each generation.
There’s still time to enter a vehicle; Niagara College staff, their family and friends, and alumni can save $5 on their registration fee (regular $15) using promo codes “NCstaff” and “Alumni.” Clubs registering more than five cars are also eligible for a discount. There is no cost to attend the event, which will go on rain or shine. Guests can pay for purchases on-site using cash, debit, Visa, Mastercard or Amex.
Best in Class awards for each category and a Best in Show award will be presented at 2 p.m.
Visit the Car Show’s Eventbrite page to register a vehicle.
For those unable to attend who would like to donate to RMHCSCO, visit car show’s fundraising page. RMHCSCO will issue tax receipts for cash donations made at the event and online.
The Motive Power building will be open for tours during the event, too
