Longtime employee Kim Rose is retiring from NC at the end of June 2024

A message from Dr. Chris McGrath, Vice-President, Students:

After over 20 years of dedicated service, Kim Rose, Executive Assistant to the Vice-President, Students has decided to retire from Niagara College, with June 26 as her last day on campus.

Kim worked in employment & career counselling with unemployed adults and young offenders before joining NC as a Project Manager for the Trades & Technology Exploration (TTX) program. She moved into a role in the President’s Office supporting the President and Board of Governors and has held various roles supporting Vice-Presidents in nearly every portfolio at the College, while also serving as the College’s Policy Advisor. A longstanding cheerleader for Niagara College, our students, our employees, and our programs, Kim has been an extraordinary support to many college leaders, including former presidents, senior vice-presidents, vice-presidents across all portfolios, and now, me. With an uncanny ability to metaphorically see the forest, the trees, the cute woodland creatures, the poisonous bugs, and incoming weather patterns, Kim has helped so many leaders to skilfully navigate so many challenges and opportunities over her tenure at NC.

Among her colleagues, Kim has been a trusted mentor, coach, navigator, problem-solver, co-conspirator, and ally. Perhaps not despite but because of her ability to navigate complexity behind the scenes, her work has been critical to many successful outcomes for the College and the community including: developing the policy website, leading the coordination of Royal Visits by now King Charles, to officially open the WVEC, and the permanent installation of Indigenous flags on campus.

Even though Kim has been counting down the days for longer than we can imagine, we know she will miss her three-block commute to immerse herself in the pulse and energy of NC life. With that said, Kim please know that we will miss you more – and want to express our most profound gratitude and congratulations to you on this milestone. We have every trust in your determination to enjoy the years ahead filled with new adventures, rounds of golf, Formula 1 races, and enjoying the scenery in your garden oasis.

Please join us in wishing Kim all the best in her retirement!
