A message from Craig Youdale, Dean, Culinary, Tourism and Beverage Studies:

It is with mixed emotions that I share with you that Janet Misener and Sarbjit Bamrah are retiring from Niagara College.

Janet Misener

After 20 years of dedicated service, we announce the retirement of our esteemed colleague, Janet Misener, from her current role as the FoodTrak Coordinator for our Culinary Central Stores Ingredient Procurement and Distribution team. Throughout Janet’s long career at Niagara College, she has had the opportunity to work at both the Welland and Daniel J. Patterson Campus, as well as the Maid-of-the-Mist campus in Niagara Falls. Janet played an integral role assisting with the complicated logistics team providing ingredients for the many food labs running each day, term after term. Janet’s unwavering dedication to the smooth functionality of our culinary labs has been instrumental in shaping the experiences of countless students and faculty members.

As Janet embarks on this well-deserved retirement from NC, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for her years of service to our institution and will miss her very much. Please join us in congratulating Janet and wishing her all the happiness and fulfillment that this new chapter will bring!

Sarbjit Bamrah

It is with mixed emotions that we announce the retirement of Sarbjit (Sabi) Bamrah from her position as a Professor in the Culinary Innovation and Food Technology program.

Sabi joined us with a wealth of experience and expertise, having previously served at the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) where she contributed significantly to the Processed Fruits and Vegetables program, the Honey program, and as a regional auditor in the Meat Program. Prior to her tenure at CFIA, she garnered extensive industry experience in Quality Control and Production roles with esteemed companies like Santa Maria Foods, Sun Rich Foods, and Unico Foods.

Sabi’s passion for food safety has been instrumental in shaping curriculum and preparing our students for the challenges of the industry. Throughout her tenure at Niagara College, Sabi guided and mentored countless students towards success in this important aspect of the culinary and food technology field. While we are extremely sad to see Sabi go, we are excited for her as she embarks on a new leg of her journey.

Please join us in extending our heartfelt gratitude to Sabi for her years of service, and in wishing her a very productive and rewarding retirement!
