Canadian Jewish Heritage Month
Canadian Jewish Heritage Month, recognized since 2018, celebrates the contributions of Jewish Canadians and their rich cultural heritage. It acknowledges Canadian Jews as part of the global Jewish diaspora, an ethnoreligious group with shared historical, ethnic, religious, and cultural practices and identities.
May holds particular significance as it often coincides with the Jewish holiday of Shavuot, which commemorates the spring harvest and the giving of the Torah. The month is an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the important role of Jewish Canadians in shaping Canada’s history and society.
This month is also a reminder for all of us to come together to combat antisemitism and discrimination in all its forms. Below you will find resources to support learning and reflection throughout the month.
