A message from David Atherton, Dean, Academic & Liberal Studies and Jennifer Roberts, Associate Dean, Academic and Liberal Studies – Daniel J. Patterson Campus:

After nearly 24 years of dedicated service, it is with mixed emotions that we announce the upcoming retirement of Bruce Harper, Professor in the School of Academic and Liberal Studies – Daniel J. Patterson Campus, on April 30, 2024.

A longstanding and devoted educator, colleague, and friend to many in our division and across the College, Bruce’s contributions to the field of Communications, the Niagara College community, and the Niagara Region have been truly outstanding.

Bruce has been an invaluable faculty member of our division, one who strives to build engaging learning opportunities for NC students.  His demonstrated commitment to excellence through teaching has been a true staple of Academic and Liberal Studies, at both the Welland and DJP campuses.

Throughout his career, Bruce has always focused on nurturing student success through his passionate teaching, enhancements of our curriculum and his involvement in cross-divisional course collaborations. He will leave an indelible mark on our division and the entire NC academic community.

Bruce often comments on how the students give him energy and how hard it will be to retire from what he loves to do the most.  Similarly, we will all greatly miss Bruce’s energy, contributions to departmental discussions, and his extensive knowledge for all things NC.

Bruce, we wish to congratulate and thank you for your many years of service.  May this next chapter bring you continued happiness and enjoyment.

Please join us in wishing Bruce all the best in his retirement and future endeavors.

David & Jennifer
