On February 28, the three Niagara dailies (St. Catharines Standard, Niagara Falls Review and Welland Tribune) reported on the federal government’s decision to place a cap on international students and its impact on the post-secondary sector and employment industry.
In the article, Sean Coote, Vice President, International, discusses the state of the labour shortage before the announcement and how it will be amplified significantly over the coming years: “Many of our employers will certainly feel the reduction of international students entering the labour force in very much needed high-skilled jobs across the region and across the province.”
