In November 2023, Niagara College President Sean Kennedy was appointed Chair Designate of the Canadian Bureau for International Education (CBIE), beginning his mandate on January 1, 2024.
“Having previously served on the CBIE Board as a Director, I am proud to return to the Board as Chair Designate and look forward to working with the Board to continue to support Canada’s education efforts globally,” said NC President Kennedy.

The CBIE is the national organization dedicated to the internationalization of education and the expansion of educational partnerships between Canada and countries around the globe. As the voice of Canada’s international education sector, CBIE’s pan-Canadian membership comprises more than 150 colleges, institutes, cégeps, universities, school boards and language schools.
President Kennedy joins 14 other accomplished CBIE Board members from post-secondary institutions across the country. The Board is the primary governing body of the organization and is responsible for the stewardship of CBIE, for setting its strategic direction, for establishing strategic priorities and for approving, upholding and supporting CBIE’s vision, and mission and core organizational values.
As Chair Designate, Sean will serve on the Executive Committee and as Chair of the Governance and Nominating Committee in 2024.
