A message from Jeff Post, Senior Director, Academic Quality & Learning Innovation in the Centre for Academic Excellence:
I am pleaseed to announce three new staff that have recently joined the CAE.
Catherine Brigantino
Catherine Brigantino has joined the staff of the Centre for Academic Excellence as the new Educational Developer – Curriculum.
Catherine brings a wealth of professional experience to this role. Most recently, Catherine served as the Experiential Education Coordinator at Brock University where she supported the integration of experiential learning in programs and courses. No stranger to Niagara College, Catherine has taught as a part-time instructor in the School of Academic and Liberal studies since 2019. She holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in Critical Sociology from Brock University.
Catherine is a dynamic thinker with a problem-solving mindset who is excited to share her curriculum development skills with the Niagara College community. She possesses a deep commitment to accessibility and inclusion as evidenced in her work developing curriculum for the Brock-Niagara Centre of Excellence in Inclusive and Adaptive Physical Activity. As an experienced part-time instructor, Catherine brings a wealth of teaching experience in the college sector that will inform her work supporting Niagara College faculty.
In her role as Educational Developer – Curriculum, Catherine will play an integral role in new program development at the College as well as supporting curriculum renewal and revision projects in our academic programs. She will also support the regular programming and services offered by the educational development team within the CAE.
Maggie Omamon
Maggie Omamoni has joined the Centre for Academic Excellence as the new International Academic Quality Consultant.
Having served most recently as an immigration partnership project manager for the City of Saint John, New Brunswick, Maggie brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our team. She holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Lagos (Nigeria) and a Master of Science in Human Resource Management from the University of Bedfordshire (U.K.). Her educational background reflects a strong foundation in both education leadership and organizational management, making her an ideal fit for our dynamic environment.
Maggie possesses a diverse skill set with a focus on project management, community engagement, diversity and inclusion, compliance and reporting, and policy documentation. Her credentials and professional experience make her a valuable asset to our team and align well with the goals and objectives of our department.
In her role as International AQC, Maggie will be responsible for assisting with the development of the College self-study to meet the Ontario-mandated Standards of Practice for International Education. Additionally, Maggie will manage program review projects at Niagara College Toronto, our private partner campus, ensuring that their delivery of NC’s academic programs consistently meet and exceed the highest standards.
Greg Unrau has joined the CAE as the inaugural Program Innovation Manager.
Greg brings a wealth of experience to this role, with over 15 years experience in teaching, curriculum development and program development at Sheridan College, Canadore College, and the New York Film Academy. Greg also served as the Associate Dean in the School of Media at Niagara before moving overseas. Prior to his career in education, Greg was a successful television and film writer, producer and director. He has worked at the Abu Dhabi Film Commission as well as at a number of television stations.
Greg and his newly developed unit will be responsible for our new program development process. With a focus on enhancing program offerings, Greg will be working with key stakeholders across the College to bring new program ideas to fruition. Greg’s proven ability to manage projects, develop relationships and cultivate forward thinking approaches to curriculum design will serve him well as he leads this new unit.
Greg holds a Master of Arts from the University of Southern Queensland in Australia and a Master of Education from the University of Sheffield in the U.K.
