If your New Year’s resolution is a commitment to personal wellness, Niagara College can help.
Students from NC’s Fitness and Health Promotion program are ready to work with approximately 50 people who are looking to achieve their fitness goals in 2024.
As part of their Personal Training course curriculum, and under the supervision of college faculty, second-year students will offer free personal fitness education and counseling, pre- and post-fitness evaluations, as well as weekly exercise programming and supervision (approximate value of $700).
Professor Michael Hart noted that the training program is a win-win for both students and participants.
“This long-standing program benefits our students who get the opportunity to work with real clients as they prepare for careers in the fitness and health industry,” said Hart, who noted that approximately 25 students will be involved in the program this year. “For participants, it’s a great way to learn how to be more fit, in a free personalized program supported by students who are being trained to meet national industry standards.”
The Personal Training program is open to college employees and students, as well as local community residents regardless of current fitness status, exercise goals, or previous participation in the program.
Applicants must be willing to commit to attend 50-minute weekly personal training sessions at
the Welland Campus from February 5 to April 15, 2024, inclusive, and must meet specific participation eligibility requirements to be accepted as clients.
