A message from Marc Nantel, Vice-President, Research, Innovation and Strategic Enterprises:

Hi to the entire NC community,

As we head into the holiday season and wrap up another calendar year, I’d like to bring your attention to an announcement that came out yesterday of which I am so very proud.

For the second time in less than five years, Niagara College (NC) has hit the No. 1 spot in Canada for college research funding, according to a special report released yesterday. Moving up one spot from last year’s standings, Niagara College is now the No. 1 research college across Canada. In addition, since the index’ inception in 2012, NC has always been in the top 15, and this is the ninth year in a row NC has been in the top 10.

In its special report Canada’s Innovation Leaders, Research Infosource Inc. announced the rankings based on total research funding numbers for 2022. The publication includes a national study “Canada’s Top 50 Research Colleges”.

This announcement highlights that Niagara College has been successful at attracting funding to help us offer the best experiential learning to our students. We provide top-tier support for our industry partners in the region who are coming to us to develop new products or services to grow their market. By doing so, we’re contributing to the economy and creating jobs in Ontario and across Canada.

To say this is a huge achievement would be an understatement. I am so proud of all our staff, faculty, researchers, and students who helped make this happen, and work day-in and day-out to provide innovative solutions for industry partners.

This announcement also gives Niagara businesses the confidence that, when working with Niagara College, they are partnering with the top research college across the country. A true demonstration of Niagara College’s core values of being student-focused, welcoming, passionate, and trailblazing!

Niagara College is also widely recognized as leaders in the administration of research throughout the Canadian college landscape, and influential on many Boards and Committees in that ecosystem. Our colleagues look to us as an example of success, and often ask our advice on how best to fund or manage research.

Thank you to the whole NC community for the continued support of R&I and for all that you do to forward our efforts. The full media release about this announcement is available on the College’s website.

Thanks, and take care,

Marc
