Explore ways to tie course-based projects to the community or industry, make industry partnerships and how to incorporate course-based research into the classroom with an upcoming session from the Centre for Academic Excellence.
‘Incorporating Course-Based Research into your Classroom’ will be held on October 4 from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. The virtual session will feature the CAE and David DiPietro, Manager, Business Development – Research and & Innovation.
Course-based research projects are a method of experiential learning that augment the content in a classroom by engaging a community partner. They apply theory to practice by providing real-world opportunities for students to provide solutions to industry challenges or by engaging in community practice or service. Course-based research projects take on various forms, but ultimately function as a method of satisfying learning outcomes through an authentic experience.
The purpose of the session will be to provide a deeper understanding of course-based research projects, supports provided by Research & Innovation and possibilities across academic departments. Through this session, you will hear from faculty champions who have been embedding course-based research projects into their courses for several years.
Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss challenges, successes, and best practices of course-based research as it relates to their teaching and learning.
Registration required.
