On September 1, the three Niagara dailies (the St. Catharines Standard, Welland Tribune, and Niagara Falls Review) released an article on the recent vandalism done to the Niagara-on-the-Lake rainbow Pride Crosswalk. The article syndicated to outlets including, Canadian Press, Yahoo! News Canada, Pelham Today, TheRecord.com and the
Peterborough Examiner.
In the article, NC’s Samah Sabrah Director of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion said pushback like this often comes when social activists are making the most gains: “When an equity-deserving group gains rights they have fought hard for, the gains come with increased visibility.”
