The 15th annual Niagara Health Big Move Cancer Ride is around the corner, taking place on Sunday September 10.

Each year, Niagara College gathers a cycling team to participate in the fundraising event in support of the Walker Family Cancer Centre. NC’s Big Move team, along with hundreds of Niagara residents, will take off from White Meadows Farms on a 12K, 25K, 50K, or 75K bike ride through scenic Pelham. All routes end back at White Meadows Farms, where riders and their families will enjoy a BBQ lunch, live music, and ceremonies.

NC’s Big Move team is currently the top third team on the fundraising scoreboard with $10,631.62 raised, surpassing its fundraising goal of $5,000.

There is still time to donate to NC’s Big Move team! Whether you are riding in celebration of a cancer survivor, in support of a cancer patient, or in memory of a loved one lost, riders and donors can take pride in knowing that every dollar raised supports local cancer care.

Please see below for updated information for those who are participating in the fundraiser or have joined NC’s Big Move Team:

  • A Microsoft Teams group has been created for participants to provide support through training and event updates and encouraging people to stay fit, have fun and fundraise, while generating NC team spirit and camaraderie.
    • If interested in joining the Microsoft Teams group, please email Joanne Maltby at [email protected]
  • Please note, there will no longer be an NC-led group ride the next two Wednesdays (Wednesday, August 30 and Wednesday, September 6) as the Rockway Conservation Area parking lot is under construction. Instead, the NC team will join the Big Move group rides taking place on Thursdays. Please review the updated schedule below:

  • Branded team jerseys have been delivered. Please contact Mike Pasquale at [email protected] to pick up your jersey. There are few jerseys left in stock and limited sizes.
  • No RSVP required. Please ensure your bike is road-ready (safe) and remember to bring water and a helmet. All training rides are weather-dependent (no rides in wet weather or threat of thunderstorms).
