CKTB: CEO of XpertVR discusses new VR tool developed with NC to help students learn about ableism and accessibility

On August 28, CKTB interviewed CEO and Co-founder of XPERT VR, Evan Sitler, to discuss the immersive VR tool that was co-developped by Niagara College and Brock University to teach ableism and accessibility. The VR tool will be implemented at NC to help students learn about the lived experiences of people with disabilities on post-secondary campuses.

In the interview, Sitler discusses how as partners NC and Brock provided their expertise about the most prevalent accessibility and EDI problems and scenarios that are occuring up at the college/university level and the methods on how to deal with those: “We had a large group from Niagara College coming in that were avising on the EDI and acessibility side of things as well some knowledge in virtual reality as well. So having different people from Niagara College coming on to give their knowledge of how those accessibility and EDI standards should be in VR and having that background knowledge of VR was very helpful…”
