In recent weeks, there have been a number of concerning incidents on both of our campuses involving suspicious individuals. While no one has been physically harmed and the Niagara Regional Police Service were called to investigate, it is important for all of us at Niagara College to be reminded of general safety precautions and how to report concerning incidents.
While Niagara College’s Welland and Niagara-on-the-Lake campuses are located in some of the safest cities in Ontario, safety incidents can happen anywhere and it is important to take precautions on campus:
- Always be alert to your surroundings when walking on campus, waiting for transit, and sitting in your vehicle.
- In an emergency, call 911 first and then Campus Security at 905-735-2211 ext. 6999. The College Security Control Centre is staffed 24/7 by security guards to respond to any calls. They are located in room S120 (Welland) and room 110A (NOTL).
- Report any suspicious activity right away to Campus Security at 905-735-2211 ext. 6999.
- If you work/study alone on campus in the evening, SafeWalk provides a security escort for employees, students, and visitors between campus buildings or to and from their vehicles.
