NC’s Global Engagement division seeking specialists to participate in international development projects

The Global Engagement (GE) division is excited to connect NC faculty and staff to international education experiences. The GE team collaborates with internal departments/academic divisions, provides global professional development opportunities for team members, and supports capacity building in over 20 nations world-wide.

The team is looking for Gender & Social Inclusion specialists to participate in one of our exciting and dynamic international development projects, when such a project opportunity becomes available.

Project deliverables may include, but are not limited to:
• Developing and delivering workshops related to gender issues including gender awareness and gender equality
• Review of strategic and operational documents and conducting interviews in order to gain insights into organizational capacity for gender analysis and/or mainstreaming
• Researching and interpreting data from reports and publications related to gender and developmental issues
• Assess and compile sex-disaggregated data and qualitative information for sector programs, labour market, and gender mainstreaming activities
• Develop resources and toolkits for learners and trainers to ensure structured training delivery related to gender equality
• Supporting institutions in strengthening gender-based violence prevention, response, and mitigation (identification, reporting, and referral for services to ensure different needs of young women and men are met)

Qualifications include:
• Educational background in related area including gender and development theory and/or gender studies
• Experience working in a field supporting issues related to gender equality, poverty, and development
• Familiarity with research on Sustainable Development goals, Beijing Platform for Action, Human Rights and other relevant United Nations documents
• Hands-on experience working with organizations that support gender inclusion
• Experience conduction quantitative and qualitative research including gender assessments, participatory methodologies, program development, monitoring and evaluation, and project management
• Cross-cultural communication skills; demonstrated tolerance for ambiguity; and a high degree of flexibility
