The team of Niagara College Knight Walkers is one step closer to reaching its fundraising goal for the Coldest Night of the Year walk.
Team organizer and NC Hairstyling Professor, Joe Abbruscato is set on raising $7,500 in donations in support of Welland’s Open Arms Mission to help the homeless. Currently, the team has raised 76 per cent of its goal and has acquired 52 walkers, with plenty of room for staff, students, and community members to join the walk taking place on February 25 at NC’s Welland Campus.
To help raise additional funds, all proceeds from the NC Teaching Hair Salon were donated to the fundraiser during the week of Feb. 13 – Feb. 17. Open to the public, the NC Teaching Hair Salon is an educational salon serviced by students of the Niagara College Hairstyling and Hairstylist Apprenticeship programs that provides a variety of hair styling and colouring services.
Thanks to the help of Hairstyling Technologist, Renee Bernard, along with all participating technologists the week of Feb. 13 – Feb. 17, a total of $1,380 was donated to the fundraiser on behalf of the Teaching Salon.
“We’re thrilled with the outcome so far and know we can all come together to help reach our goal,” said Abbruscato. “Not only is this a great way to give back and help those around us in need, but it’s a great reason to gather with our community for a fun and fulfilling evening.”
