The spirit of giving was food for the soul on Valentine’s Day, for a group of culinary volunteers at NC, and Your TV host Mike Balsom and producer Stephen Parr were on the scene to capture it all.
YourTV Niagara spent the morning of February 14 in the Benchmark kitchen to get an inside look at NC’s Feed the Community program in full swing.
They spoke to Chef Professor Olaf Mertens about his recent minister’s award, for his instrumental role in Feed the Community; as well as Culinary, Tourism and Beverage Studies Dean Craig Youdale and culinary student volunteer Krista-Lee Boyd (Culinary Skills).
Cameras were rolling as a team of culinary volunteers prepared and packaged 250 meals which were donated to the Boys and Girls Club Youth Shelter, Gillian’s Place, the Ronald McDonald House and more that day as part of the Feed the Community initiative.
