This week, Indigenous Education is welcoming Elaine Berwald, Indigenous Anti-Human Trafficking Liaison, Niagara Chapter – Native Women Inc., and Nikki Dube, Anti-Human Trafficking Crisis Worker, Ontario Native Women’s Association, to Niagara College for an open conversation about anti-human trafficking.

The discussions will take place on Feb. 14 at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the Saundra Patterson Wellness Lounge and Feb. 15 at the Welland Campus from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the Wellness Lounge.

Staff and faulty are invited to join the conversation.

Tea, coffee and lunch will be provided.

The anti-human trafficking discussion is part of Niagara College’s REDress Project, a weeklong campaign dedicated to honouring Missing and murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) and Two Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex and Asexual (2SLGBTQQIA+) people.

Red dresses will be on display at both campuses until Feb. 16 as powerful visual reminders of the violence and injustices suffered by MMIWG and 2SLGTBQQIA+ people.
