Free wellness workshops for NC students this winter

Health, Wellness and Accessibility Services (HWAS) offers a variety of workshops to help you make the most of your busy time at Niagara College. Many workshops start in January, so don’t hesitate – register now!

Thrive@NC: a five-week program designed to help you build and enhance resilience and thrive personally and academically.

KORU Mindfulness: A four-week mindfulness course for NC students. Developed and researched by Duke University, the program helps students learn to live with less stress and to manage life more effectively.

MindfulNC: Mondays are for meditation! Start each week with a one-hour mindful meditation session at the Welland Campus to help reduce stress and anxiety, increase calmness and relaxation, improve concentration, physical and psychological well-being.

Exams are Coming: Managing Test Anxiety: Learn how to cope more effectively with test anxiety and feel calmer and more confident going into final exams and tests.

Invest in Rest: Improving Your Sleep Quality: Sleep is so vital. So why aren’t we feeling well rested? Learn the basics of how sleep works and strategies to improve your overall sleep quality.

Social Anxiety Workshop: This 5-week virtual group focuses on what social anxiety is, what it looks like, and teaches you strategies to respond and cope in social interactions. If you worry excessively about embarrassing yourself in public or agonize that others are constantly judging you, this group is for you!

Drop in Session with Learning Strategist: The Library and Learning Commons is hosting our Learning Strategists to help you get organized for your semester! Drop into the Library on Monday January 16th (WC) or Tuesday January 17th (DJP) between 1:30-3:30pm. Put together a semester plan and learn more about what Library Services are here to support you!

Suicide Prevention Training Certificate: Participate in our SafeTalk Training program to receive a Suicide Prevention Training Certificate. Please note that registration is limited to 30 participants.

Free Massages: Enjoy a free massage through our Wellness Peers program.

Wellness Peers Drop- In Events: Join in for a variety of events! Mindful colouring, our happy lights initiative, or just to chat. See you there!

Teddy Time in the Wellness Lounge:  Come join Teddy, our NC therapy dog, in the Wellness Lounge at Welland Campus on Thursdays from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Teddy will be visiting us February 9, February 23, March 9, March 23, April 6 and April 20.
