The Holiday Season is upon us, and whether you’re a last-minute shopper or struggling to find a gift for a special someone on your list, NC has several festive finds right here on campus.

Teaching Greenhouse
Nothing says happy holidays like the gift of festive florals, so head over to NC’s Teaching Greenhouse for all things merry and bright.
With 6″ poinsettias for just $15, 10″ poinsettias for $25 and beautiful Christmas Urns for $50, you can light up anyone’s home for the holidays. Looking to get creative? The true green thumb on your list will have a blast planting their own Bonsai Kit ($40) or putting their own spin on the traditional Christmas tree by decorating a Bonsai Plant ($25). For the low-maintenance plant lover, Dishgardens start at $15 – something to fit any budget.

Teaching Brewery
What better way to get in the holiday spirit than with a holly, jolly belly of craft beer? From seasonal flavours to classic favourites, NC’s Teaching Brewery has several offerings both created and sold on campus.
Students, faculty and staff at the Teaching Brewery have been hard at work bringing to life five holiday beers this season, including the popular, annual holiday brew, Rudolph’s Red Nose Ale. Made slightly different each holiday season, this year’s Rudolph’s Red Nose Ale (5.3% abv) features a hazy red ale using malted oats and light Christmas spices to give you all the festive flavours.
Other holiday beers have been specially brewed from recipes created by each of the Teaching Brewery staff including George’s Imperial Porter (8.5 % abv) – a dark, rich strong beer created by Head Brewer George Eagleson, Adam’s Dear Sinterklaas (9.0 % abv) – a Belgian Cookie ale created by Assistant Brewer Adam Marshall, Sandy’s Cranberry Wit (5.0 % abv) – a Belgian Wheat spiced wheat beer with Cranberries created by Student Brew Tech Sandy Wilson and Jon’s Christmas Caramel 7.6 % abv) – a festive Lager and Ale made with caramel malts, created by Brewmaster Jon Downing.
If you’re looking for a more classic brew, opt for one of the student-made beers in the Small Batch Brew collection or Beer 101 varieties. The Small Batch Brew Surprise Six and Tasty Twelve will give you a taste of dynamic student brews, unique one offs and collaboration beers brewed with various local, Canadian brewers. Grab some cans of the Beer 101 Pilsner, Pale Ale, Stout and more classic favourites for the perfect beer fridge stocking stuffers.
If you’re hoping to get your hands on a bit of everything, take advantage of the 12 Days of Christmas!! – (Beer) Holiday Special Pack ($92.40) that includes two cans each of the twelve different beers in the Beer 101 series.

Wine Visitor + Education Centre
