We are excited to introduce the NC Cares ‘Donor Spotlight’ series. The series features brief interviews with some of our NC donors about why they support the College’s United Way workplace campaign. Everyone’s reason for giving is unique, often personal, but all are connected by a common thread – to help others in need.
The following is the third spotlight featuring Cristina Tomassetti, Scheduling Officer, Enrolment Services.
Please share with us why you donate to the United Way through NC’s workplace campaign? What motivates you?
I donate to the United Way through NC’s workplace campaign because I know the money is going towards helping those in need. I want to see the committee reach or exceed this year’s goal of $50, 000. I was quite impressed to see them reach last year’s goal and all the hard work they put into making it happen. This has motivated me to donate again this year and every year going forward. By donating, it makes me feel like part of the team, and knowing that the money is going to make a positive impact in someone’s life is quite rewarding.
In your opinion, what is the most important work of the United Way?
In my opinion, the most important work of the United Way is to improve the lives of people of all ages within our communities towards a better future.
If you were to share a message with colleagues, who may be thinking of donating, what would you say?
For those colleagues who may be thinking of donating, I’d tell them to donate now. You are just a simple click away from creating opportunities that will change the lives of those who need it most forever. Let’s all donate to build a stronger community together.
Support NC Cares
It’s not too late to give to the 2022 NC Cares United Way workplace campaign, which runs through December 9. Donations can be made through NC’s online payroll deduction portal or United’s Way’s online form.
The NC community continues to host fundraising initiatives supporting the campaign this fall:
The Teaching Greenhouse’s annual poinsettia sale is underway, with $1 from every six-inch poinsettia sold being donated to United Way. Six inch poinsettias are $10 each and come in a selection of colours and varieties.
Research & Innovation is hosting the Local & Lucky raffle sale supporting NC Cares. Tickets are $5 each or five (5) for $20 and include your chance to win some great gift baskets (5 baskets total) loaded with goods made or sourced right here in Niagara. Tickets can be purchased online until December 9 (4 p.m.).
