The Student Right’s and Responsibilities Office (SRRO) is welcoming Niagara College students to learn about gender-based violence from Draw the Line and Gillian’s Place during an in-person workshop on Monday, December 5 at 1:30 p.m. at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara on the Lake.
Draw The Line (DTL) aims to engage post-secondary students in a dialogue about gender-based violence. Through the workshop, participants will enhance their understanding of the root causes of gender-based violence, challenge common myths about sexual violence, and develop the necessary skills and capacity to engage in prevention efforts. DTL also equips students with information on how to intervene safely and effectively. We hope that ‘Draw the Line’ will educate students on how to spot sexual violence and empower them to make a difference in their communities.
Gillian’s Place is an agency that supports women, trans, and non-binary people (with or without children) who have experienced gender-based violence. Gillian’s Place offers a wide range of services, including emergency shelter, counselling, housing services, legal support, and community education.
The event will be held during 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, an annual international campaign. Our aim is to bring students into this important conversation and shed light on how they can help put an end to gender-based violence.
Seating is limited. Students can register here.
Students who attend will be entered into a draw to win $100 visa gift card
