Students, staff and faculty are invited to register for an open focus group between Nov. 1 and 11. Department-specific focus groups will also be held.
Thank you to all those who responded to the Learning Management System (LMS) survey which closed on October 14. The response exceeded expectations and we are pleased to see so much engagement and insight into the future system to support teaching and learning at Niagara College. Winners of the survey draw will be contacted at the end of the week.
Between November 1 and 11, the College will host focus groups to ask students, faculty and staff about their experiences with our current LMS Blackboard, and their hopes and vision for the ways in which an updated system could support their learning, teaching, or work.
Open focus groups will be offered both virtually and on-campus and will last for 90 minutes. Those who participate in an open focus group do not need to have previous experience with Blackboard but should have some thoughts about the role an updated LMS might play in their work or the success of NC students and/or employees.
Sessions are available for students and faculty/staff as follows, with up to eight participants per session (10 for students):
Faculty and staff
November 3 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. (Virtual)
November 4 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. (Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake)
November 8 from 12 to 1:30 p.m. (Virtual)
November 10 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. (Welland Campus)
Students
November 1 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. (Virtual)
November 4 from 12 to 1:30 p.m. (Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake)
November 8 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. (Virtual)
November 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. (Welland Campus)
In addition to open focus groups for faculty and staff, sessions will be scheduled during regularly scheduled and department-specific meetings facilitated by either the Centre for Academic Excellence team or consultants from MindWires. Details about these focus groups will be forthcoming.
Part-time faculty and staff who attend a focus group session will be compensated for their time at a rate of $35/hour.
Students who participate in a focus group will receive an acknowledgement on their Co-Curricular Record and a $30 gift card.
We value your input and hope you will share your feedback and encourage students to do the same.
