As shared via Campus Notice in September, touchdown/hotelling workspaces are available to be booked at both the Welland Campus and Daniel. J Patterson Campus in Niagara on the Lake.
The following office spaces are equipped with a total of 16 workstations each and are available to be booked:
- AH255 at the Welland Campus
- E308 at the Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake
Workstations can be booked through the Microsoft Office 365 calendar system like you would book a meeting or conference room. For instructions, visit the ITS website: its.niagaracollege.ca/nchotelingstations.
Additionally, some workspaces in other areas will be bookable via Microsoft O365, and requests will be manually accepted or declined by those departments. When booking, these spaces will be identified in Microsoft O365 as “workspace” vs “hotel.”
The time slots are broken into one-to-two-hour increments, and you can book up to three days in advance. The reservation is for a space in the room. Desks are available on a first come first, served basis and are not assigned. When you book, you will get an automated e-mail that will approve or decline the request. If your request is declined, the email will indicate why the request was refused. A college employee ID card is required to access these spaces and all staff have access.
The touchdown/hoteling rooms have a mix of dual and single monitors. Some will be connected to docking stations; other stations will have multimedia monitors deployed which include an integrated dock webcam and speakers. For either setup, simply plug the provided USB-C cable into your laptop and it will dock automatically, charging your laptop and providing access to all peripherals at the station. Users can choose to use their laptop built in webcam or the multimedia monitor webcam for meetings by selecting through Microsoft Teams. It is recommended practice that users join meetings with camera enabled, and out of respect for others using the space, headsets must be worn when you are participating in online appointments/meetings from a hotelling or other public space. The permanent rooms are designed to limit background noise.
For usage guidelines and etiquette in these shared spaces, see the ITS website: its.niagaracollege.ca/nchotelingstations.
