It’s almost time to celebrate the Class of 2022 at Niagara College’s Spring Convocation!

From June 20 to 24, more than 3,600 students will cross the graduation stage as NC hosts eight ceremonies from the Welland Campus Athletic Centre gymnasium. NC’s Spring 2022 graduates will be the first to have an opportunity to attend convocation in-person since 2019, after two years of all-virtual convocation ceremonies.

Employees are welcome and encouraged to attend the ceremonies in-person or virtually. View the ceremony schedule and access the livestreamed events on NC’s convocation website.

Employees are also encouraged to share congratulatory messages on social media using the dedicated convocation hashtag #NCGrad2022. Public posts will appear on screen during the in-person ceremony and will be incorporated into the livestream.

As we return to in-person ceremonies at the Welland Campus, please note the following information and closures to accommodate the event.

New for Spring 2022 Convocation

Reserved seating will be available for all employees who attend this year’s celebrations in support of our graduates. Please ask Enrolment Services staff for directions to this seating area when you arrive.

This year’s platform party will be smaller than in previous years to reduce possible contacts.

NC’s mandatory mask policy will remain in effect for Spring Convocation. Exceptions include: members of the platform party may remove their masks when delivering remarks or making special presentations. Graduates may briefly remove their mask for photos while crossing the stage, and graduates and guests may remove their masks while enjoying refreshments at the post-ceremony celebrations.

There will be food service for graduates supported by the CFWI, but in a takeaway/picnic package, allowing graduates and their guests to spread out around campus.

Parking

Parking lots A, B and C will be unavailable to staff from Monday, June 20 (starting at 8 a.m.) to the end of day on Friday, June 24. To view a map of parking lots at the Welland Campus, visit: niagaracollege.ca/campussafety/parkingservices/lots/

Gym

The Welland Campus gym will be closed from June 14 to 24 to accommodate convocation ceremonies.

Enrolment Services

Enrolment Services staff members from the Welland Campus and Daniel J. Patterson Campus in Niagara-on-the-Lake will be dedicated to convocation duties from June 20 to 24. The Enrolment Services office in Niagara-on-the-Lake will be closed during this time, while the Welland office in Secord 106 will remain open, operating with limited service.

Assistance is also available by email at [email protected] or by calling 905-735-2211 ext. 7500.

Library/ Learning Commons

While the Learning Commons will be the primary hub for activity following each ceremony, the library will remain open for regular hours during convocation week.

The Core/ The Shack

The Core and The Shack will be closed during convocation.

Chartwells food services

Convocation ceremonies will not impact Chartwells food service hours.

Thank you for your patience with these temporary changes as we celebrate our graduates!
