NC Commercial Beekeeping Program Coordinator Mylee Nordin was included in an article posted by the three Niagara Dailies and the Niagara-on-the-Lake Advance on June 3. The article covers the high death rate of honey bees in the Niagara Region this spring.
In the article, Nordin says that the mortality rate of honey bees in the area may be the result of “undetected Varroa mites and an unseasonably long winter” and that “From year to year, beekeepers will report and see different things in their hive, and getting that bigger picture is always a challenge.”
