An article in the Niagara Dailies features the unveiling of the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games medals with NC alumnus Shaun O’Melia (Graphic Design, 2014) front and centre. O’Melia, a St. Catharines-based graphic designer and owner of O’Melia Creative Co., was short-listed from a group of more than 45 artists to design the medals. The article explains O’Melia’s symbolic design elements with inspiration taken from the Canadian provinces, Niagara municipalities and paying tribute to the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabe peoples — the original residents of Niagara.
