In an opinion piece by David Mole, Niagara College is mentioned as a key contributor in overcoming the shortage of health-care professionals in Niagara

An excerpt from the article, posted by the Niagara Dailies, Niagara This Week and The Peterborough Examiner on April 26, is below:

Earlier this year, I had the opportunity of working closely with many members of the Niagara College community. This short but inspiring sojourn within the college habitat opened my eyes to the powerful work underway to recruit, train and support the next generation of our carrying workforce so desperately needed today as outlined above. I saw the comprehensive commitment to providing sophisticated programs like practical nursing, paramedicine, gerontology, personal support worker, social service worker, early childhood education and dental hygiene (to name a few) while at the same time caring for students, many of whom have struggled during COVID to jump through the many challenging hoops of post-secondary education.

The concerted community effort alive and well at Niagara College — from executives and professors, counsellors and support staff alike — all working to empower students on their journey of higher education and subsequent workforce engagement was inspiring. Seeing, too, the international gateway Niagara College offers for a great number of students arriving in our community was similarly motivating.
