A message from Rick Anderson, Vice President, Student Success:
It is with mixed feelings that I announce that Lianne Gagnon, our Director of Student Services, is retiring at the end of August 2022.
Lianne joined Niagara College in 2012 as Associate Dean, Academic and Liberal Studies before moving into the Director of Student Services position in 2017. Prior to joining Niagara College, Lianne held a number of positions at Northwest Community College including Coordinator and Faculty Member in Developmental Education, Disability Services Coordinator, Learning Assistance Specialist, and Dean of Student Development and Instruction.
During her time at Niagara College, Lianne provided leadership for many new initiatives, chaired numerous committees and working groups and led departmental development in many areas. In her Associate Dean role, she led the implementation of the College’s Community Integration through Co-operative Education (CICE) program. Throughout her career, Lianne has been an advocate and ally supporting the advancement of awareness of Indigenous culture and she has been a primary liaison between NC and our Indigenous Education Management Circle. Lianne also represented NC as a community liaison via participation on four Town and Gown committees. In reflecting on her upcoming retirement, Lianne has commented how proud she is of the development and refinement of services across the Student Services Division and what an honour it has been working with such a strong team of dedicated Student Services professionals.
With Lianne’s pending departure from Niagara College, some time will be taken to review the Division’s current organizational structure and leadership needs before commencing a recruitment process for her replacement.
On behalf of the Student Success Division, I want to extend my thanks and gratitude to Lianne for her focus and continual striving to provide comprehensive services to our students to support their success. Over the coming months, I hope everyone will take some time to connect with Lianne to share best wishes and to hear about the adventures she has planned.
