On February 26, Dave Johnson wrote an article about the Welland leg of the annual Coldest Night of the Year walk, which took place at Niagara College’s Welland Campus.
The article, which appeared in the Niagara Dailies and the Peterborough Examiner, mentions that NC’s team, the Niagara College Knight Walkers, consisted of 54 participants and exceeded their $5,000 fundraising goal by raising $7,845. NC team organizer and Hairstyling Professor Joe Abbruscato, is quoted in the piece and noted that the College started getting involved with the fundraiser nine years ago. “It’s a good way to give back to the community and something nice to do with our students outside the classroom and give something back,” he said in the article.
More than 200 people gathered outdoors at the Welland Campus for the fundraiser, which supported the Open Arms Mission in Welland.
