A February 13 article in the Niagara Dailies and The Peterborough Examiner featured NC’s and Brock’s partnership on the REDress Project in honour of missing and murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) and Two Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, Intersex and Asexual (2SLGBTQQIA+) people.
As part of the initiative, NC and Brock will display red dresses on their campuses the week of Feb. 14. The displays are meant to be powerful visual reminders of the thousands of MMIWG and 2SLGTBQQIA+ people who were victims of colonial violence over the past 40 years, and to help raise awareness of the REDress Project. A panel event on the topic, hosted by NC’s Indigenous Education and Brock’s Aboriginal student services team was also held on Feb. 14.
The coverage includes a comment from NC’s Director of Student Services Lianne Gagnon.e.
