NC’s Craig Brown, professor in the Carpentry and Renovation Technician (Co-op) program, and former Construction Manager for Habitat for Humanity Niagara, appeared in part four of the TVO documentary series Employable Me. The series examines the challenges that individuals with varying abilities face in the job market. Each episode features two job-seekers living with a physical disability or neurological condition who volunteer with local organizations to learn new skills.
In the clip (the segment with Brown begins at 11:35), Brown works with 25-year-old job-seeker Shauna, who has Asperger’s and ADHD, on a construction project for Habitat for Humanity. With Brown’s guidance, Shauna takes measurements and uses a miter saw to construct the skirt for the deck.
“It was a fun day and Shauna really did a great job,” said Brown.
