A January 1 article in the Niagara Dailies and Niagara This Week featured Lea Dela Rosa, who recently completed NC’s Culinary Management program.

The piece mentions that prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, Dela Rosa worked as a registered practical nurse, but decided to resign and go back to school full-time to pursue her dream to one day open her own coffee shop. When the pandemic hit, Dela Rosa had to pause her studies to support her family financially after her husband was laid off. After going back to work as a full-time nurse for one year, she was able to complete her studies in the end while working part-time at a retirement home.

The article also notes that Dela Rosa “believes pursuing higher education for a new career, or adding skills and training on top of current ones, will allow women to achieve economic stability during the pandemic” and mentions that she encouraged several friends to enrol at NC to further their education.
